Kiss at Midnight rewarded the Blinkers On Partners with a hard fought victory in her first start at Santa Anita on 1/9. With jockey Elvis Trujillo in the irons Kiss at Midnight was squeezed a bit at the start then stalked the pace just off the rail, came three deep into the stretch, bid outside foes past mid-stretch and gamely prevailed by a half length. This win was especially sweet for Blinkers On, our beautiful daughter of Decarchy had a very serious stall accident as a yearling and we were not sure she would ever get to the races. So to win at first asking on the big stage at Santa Anita is very, very special. We will be looking for a Starter Allowance race at the beginning of February. We would like to try the grass, daddy was a turf monster!
In other racing news...Salute to Summer will try and break her Maiden at Golden Gate on 1/31. She has two runner up finishes and with the right pace should break through this time! Goose Bumps is training forwardly at Santa Anita and should make her first start in about 6 weeks. Conditioner Peter Miller says she is flourishing since she has come back from her short break. Off the Deep End is looking great since the knee surgery. He is now jogging at San Luis Rey and will be galloping soon. Our 2 year olds, Plane Lucky and Look Me in the Eye are learning the ropes at Magali Farm and will transfer into the racetrack on or about 3/1. Finally, our 4 time stakes winner Red Outlaw and True Visionary are getting a little down time on the farm.
Blinkers On will be attending the OBS April 2 year old in training sale at the end of April so if you are thinking about taking that next step into thoroughbred ownership sign up for Stable News on our homepage and you will be notified when new offerings become available.
